Power transformers adjust the voltage between different parts of an electrical system to allow it to operate. The main parts of a transformer are the iron core and the coils, although others components ensure optimal functionality. Copper and iron losses affect the transfer of power between high and low-voltage terminals in a transformer. This chapter revises the equivalent circuit and operating modes of power transformers.
