Effective communication is a fundamental component of quality healthcare delivery, influencing patient outcomes, satisfaction, and safety. Healthcare education traditionally employs didactic lectures, role-playing, and standardized patients to teach communication skills; however, these methods face limitations such as scalability, cost, and variability in learner engagement. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have introduced simulation platforms that utilize natural language processing, machine learning, and virtual reality to create immersive, interactive, and customizable learning environments. These AI-powered simulations, including virtual patient encounters, provide accessible and personalized training options with immediate, data-driven feedback, enhancing learners’ opportunities to refine communication skills safely. Despite rapid growth in AI applications, current evidence on their impact remains inconsistent and insufficiently synthesized. This scoping review, conducted between 2019 and 2025, aimed to evaluate AI-driven simulation platforms that improve communication skills in healthcare professionals by assessing their effectiveness, usability, and educational value, to inform future research and medical education practices.

摘要
