Exploring the Role of GitHub in Supporting Active Learning in Programming Teaching
摘要
The growing complexity of programming education requires innovative strategies to enhance active learning. This study explores the integration of GitHub as a support tool in programming courses within the Computer Engineering and Mathematics degrees at the University of Almería (Spain). Traditional learning management systems pose challenges in monitoring and evaluating student work, while inconsistencies in teaching methodologies hinder standardization. To address these issues, we propose a unified methodology that leverages GitHub for collaborative learning, enabling standardized monitoring and assessment aligned with industry practices. This approach automates the generation of course material and improves evaluation methods, fostering teamwork and real-world software development skills. Our findings demonstrate that integrating GitHub into programming education improves student engagement, collaboration, and academic performance, highlighting its potential as a valuable tool in technical education.
