Scientific Evidence and Guidelines to Micro-osteoperforations
摘要
In this chapter, we introduce the least invasive surgical technique to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement: micro-osteoperforations (MOPs). This technique is orthodontist friendly and can be easily incorporated at different stages of treatment in the orthodontics office. Here we review the biological activity of MOPs and how they can increase the inflammatory response overcoming the saturation point and, therefore, increasing the rate of tooth movement. We also discuss the general guidelines for MOPs, application, and their benefits compared with other surgically assisted techniques.
