Pedagogy of the Closet: Outreach and Activism
摘要
This chapter explores the “pedagogy of the closet” in Iceland through the educational and outreach work of Samtökin ’78. By analyzing narratives of “coming out” and the symbolism of the closet, it investigates how these metaphors shaped queer identity, visibility, and knowledge production. Drawing from media, activism, and digital platforms, the chapter demonstrates how confession and narration have become tools of empowerment and resistance. It highlights the role of queer spaces—both physical and digital—as sites of public pedagogy, fostering intergenerational connection, emotional expression, and societal transformation.
