This chapter introduces the central argument of the book: that animal theology requires a sustained engagement with pneumatology. While contemporary discussions about animals have focused largely on Christology and ethics, the role of the Holy Spirit in relation to non-human creatures remains underdeveloped. The chapter argues that if the Spirit is the giver and sustainer of life, animals must also be understood as participants in the Spirit’s animating presence within creation. Situating the study within conversations in animal theology, ecotheology, and Pentecostal scholarship, it outlines the book’s methodological approach and introduces a systematic exploration of animals through the theological lenses of creation, suffering, salvation, eschatology, and glossolalia.

摘要
