While art and design classes are crucial to the smart teaching model's implementation, the flawed curriculum is a major drawback. The training impact is unsatisfactory, and the growth of students’ autonomy in the smart teaching mode cannot be solved by the standard task-based learning technique. This article reviews the HPE teaching mode in art design courses and suggests using the HPE teaching model based on the PBL+ cloud platform in art and design courses. The first step in reducing interference factors in the application of art and design courses is to utilize problem-driven learning theory to discover the influencing elements. Then, the indicators are split according to the needs of art and design course applications. After that, the PBL+ Cloud Platform Art Design Course Application Scheme” is created using problem-driven learning theory, and the outcomes of the art and design course's application are thoroughly examined. According to the findings of the MATLAB simulation, PBL + cloud platform is superior to the traditional task-based learning method in terms of application accuracy of art design courses and time of influencing factors of art and design courses.“ This conclusion is based on specified assessment criteria.
