Economic Diplomacy in Developing Countries: Comparative Lessons from Asia
摘要
This chapter investigates the intensified role of Economic Diplomacy (ED) in Asian developing countries following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing ED as a crucial strategic tool for crisis prevention, adaptation, and economic revitalization, this analysis moves beyond mere description to examine its practical implementation during and in the aftermath of the global health crisis. Specifically, the chapter highlights how ED, through innovative initiatives and strategic breakthroughs, has become a key driver in accelerating and consolidating emerging economic trends, notably the digital economy, the green economy, and sustainable development. By employing a comprehensive, comparative approach focused on five illustrative case studies—Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and India—this analysis aims to distil critical lessons and best practices. These findings are intended to offer valuable, actionable insights to inform and enhance the future conduct of ED in Vietnam.
