The Role of Technology Adoption as a Remedy to Trump-Era Policies Impact on Global Supply Chains
摘要
The second Trump administration started by disrupting international trade and supply chain policies through harsh tariffs while escalating the cost of imported goods, and generating increased uncertainty across several industries. Within this situation, many firms reevaluated their sourcing strategies, leading to a notable increase in the adoption of digital technologies designed to manage complexity, reduce risk, and boost supply chain resilience. Instruments including Artificial Intelligence (AI), supply chain visibility platforms, digital procurement systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices have become pivotal in managing the complexity arising from changing trade rules. Answering many gaps in the literature, this theoretical paper will examine how Trump-era policies served as a stimulus for digital change in global supply chains, emphasizing the convergence of political policy and technology innovation. It investigates the intersection of Trump-era tariffs, global supply chain disruptions, and the acceleration of digital technology adoption. The study argues that the uncertainty and cost pressures triggered by tariffs forced firms to rethink their sourcing strategies and, in many cases, to adopt advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to maintain competitiveness and resilience.
