The European Union: Can There Be a Unified EU Energy Policy (Should There Be)?
摘要
The energy policy of the European Union has been complex since its inception. The quest to have a unified EU energy policy continues and there certainly remain questions surrounding whether it can be achieved. This discussion considers the potential for a unified EU energy policy from the context of the successive energy law and policy packages of the EU and, in addition, the latest initiative called “The EU Energy Union.” This analysis shows that EU energy policy is not only about liberalization and competition but also about sustainability and security of supply. Finally, it presents a recent overview of EU energy policy and tracks its progress and development along its current trajectory.
