Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed education. For instance, ChatGPT, a generative AI tool, can provide AI-generated written feedback (AI-WF) to assist second language (L2) learning through signaling inappropriacies in provided texts. The burgeoning interest in using AI tools in writing classrooms shows the rationale for literature on L2 students’ experiences with AI feedback in writing. Through an extensive survey of literature, this chapter argues for three essential elements which determine L2 writing quality improvement through AI feedback application. These elements are AI tool(s) in use for feedback, students’ prompt(s), and students’ revision strategies. As these components are dynamic in nature, it might be essential for students to be trained in using AI and its feedback effectively. The chapter aims to contribute the scant literature on how to use AI feedback in the L2 education context.
