Adsorption Chromatography
摘要
In adsorption chromatography, liquids can be separated into their components by passing them over a solid surface akin to gas are separated by passing over liquid surface in gas chromatography. The empirical equation that can model the behavior of gases/liquids over solid/liquid surface are Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms has been clearly mentioned in this chapter. Adsorption chromatography find its application in pesticide residue analysis in clean up of matrices for varied pesticides. Different adsorbents for clean up of extracts containing pesticide residues include Al2O3, Al2O3-PE, SiO2, Florosil, C, and MgO. The solid-phase extraction and solid-phase micro-extraction are common technique to extract pollutants from water, generally using non-selective hydrophobic sorbent, such as C18, graphene, and silica, used as solid-phase in the adsorption. Apart from pesticide residue, adsorption chromatography is widely used in organic reaction residues, distillation residues, and compound that may isomerize or decompose in gas chromatography.
