The variable ideology has traditionally been used in Environmental Sociology since its beginnings. The founders of the sub-discipline already documented the explanatory potential of ideological orientation in developing environmental concern and pro-environmental attitudes. In this study, we will analyse the positions of extreme ideological poles regarding perceptions of climate change using data from European countries from the latest wave of the ISSP, combined with data from the Manifestos Project, in a multivariate analysis that refines some of the widely held ideas in the traditional literature regarding the effect of ideology on environmental concern.

摘要

The variable ideology has traditionally been used in Environmental Sociology since its beginnings. The founders of the sub-discipline already documented the explanatory potential of ideological orientation in developing environmental concern and pro-environmental attitudes. In this study, we will analyse the positions of extreme ideological poles regarding perceptions of climate change using data from European countries from the latest wave of the ISSP, combined with data from the Manifestos Project, in a multivariate analysis that refines some of the widely held ideas in the traditional literature regarding the effect of ideology on environmental concern.
