People use the terms engineering, product, and design too loosely, when they mean different things. The design process is essentially a journey, a search process that leads us to identify needs (including our own needs), sketch possible solutions, test them, and refine them until we get something that works. It’s undeniably creative, and it’s not the exclusive territory of engineers. A product is anything you can sell to someone. Products are also not an exclusive concept stemming from the engineering domain. But then, what is engineering, and what do we get if we strip away the design and product aspects of it?
