Firearm Violence in New Zealand: Have Police Officers Become a Target?
摘要
Since the early 2000s, New Zealand has experienced an increasing amount of violent offending, especially with the use of a firearm. This has resulted in an increase in the number of people who have been injured or killed. During the same time frame, the number of people who have been fatally shot by the police and the number of police officers who have been fatally shot or wounded have increased. This chapter reviews the recent increase in the amount of firearm violence in New Zealand and examines whether the New Zealand Police have become a routine target for firearm violence.
