Currently, for any operations in space, the economics of the mission have to be considered in the context of our existing space launch capabilities. For rockets like those produced by the company SpaceX these are on the order of $100 million per launch and once full reusability has been achieved the cost may come down even further. Whereas the current launch costs might be in the range $10,000–25,000/kg, the goal would be to reduce it to $1,000/kg or even much lower.
