The pollution due to microplastics and their effects on environment and humans are a serious issue. The microplastics cause water and soil pollution and also have harmful effects on the humans. The microplastics consumption by humans is through plastic bottles, food and beverages. The microplastics consumption cause genetic, cytotoxic effects and in many cases death. The chapter here focuses the different types, sources of microplastics consumption by humans and their effects on the human health. The other effects also include respiratory, asthma, cancer, etc. The effects of microplastics in human blood is also mentioned in the chapter. The consumption of microplastics by humans cause many long-term adverse effects on the humans which are serious. The recommendations and solutions for management of microplastics are also mentioned in this chapter.
