This chapter highlights the angular velocities of the fluid motion derived by Stokes in 1845 and describes the rotational or angular velocities of vortex motions derived by Helmholtz in 1858. In a way, inspiration from Lagrange, Stokes and Helmholtz further stimulated mathematical and physical studies of vortex motion.

This chapter highlights the angular velocities of the fluid motion derived by Stokes in 1845 and describes the rotational or angular velocities of vortex motions derived by Helmholtz in 1858.
