The Sinking of the Great Ocean Liner
摘要
The tragedy of the Titanic, which occurred on April 12, 1912, shocked the entire world by demonstrating that even the most impressive human achievements can collapse. The sinking of the ocean liner, reputed to be unsinkable, caused the death of nearly half of its passengers and crew, thus shattering a modern myth. From this example, the author questions the ability of our civilization to adapt it to major transformations needed by the non-sustainable way of the techno-industrial model. Using the example of the Titanic, he invites us to reflect on how societies deal with crises and unexpected upheavals. Finally, the text questions our ability to recognize the warning signs of major upheavals and to prepare for them collectively.
