Cultural Heritage and Urban Regeneration: Towards Collaborative Approaches for Cultural Heritage Management and Enhancement
摘要
The chapter explores the relationship between cultural heritage and urban regeneration, emphasizing the role of cultural regeneration projects and participatory governance in cultural heritage enhancement over the past decade. The analysis examines the Italian legal framework in light of the Faro Convention, drawing from the theory of commons and constitutional principles such as horizontal subsidiarity to investigate how collaborative and community-driven approaches can revitalize neglected urban spaces. Focusing on Monteoliveto Park in Pistoia as a case study, the research compares similar projects in Italy, such as Margherita Gardens in Bologna and Trotter Park in Milan, to highlight best practices and challenges. By advocating for public-private partnerships, shared administration, and co-design, the aim is to provide a basic toolkit for communities and policymakers to foster sustainable, inclusive, and tailor-made cultural regeneration processes.
