Madeleine Moon-Chun contributes decolonial flash fiction about a child with cancer and the struggles of sibling loss. The dying child being comforted by her brother whose story brings hope is humanist spiritual care at its finest. She also includes poetry as a reflective method of understanding the human experience after witnessing her elderly maternal grandfather struggle for food in a nursing home in South Korea. She then muses and reflects on her visit to a nursing home in Atlanta, Georgia to visit her paternal grandfather on New Year’s Day. While our vulnerabilities span the life cycle, so do the wonders of beauty, spiritual care, and awe that are interspersed and discovered within each other in the most unlikely moments amid our vulnerability.
