Tell Me My Story: Stories of My Sister
摘要
Meg Winslow shares a few stories about her Deaf sister and her role as a family member to establish good communications between her sister and the healthcare team. The team was equally desirous to establish good trust and relationship with Meg and not impose hierarchical power over the family and patient. Certain aspects of the communication were led by the family member, who guided the medical team in what was needed for good patient care to occur. The medical team was humble, supportive, and willing to learn from the patient and family members. Winslow highlights the interdependence of carework between staff, patient, and family members.
