Energy Transitions: Challenges and Opportunities
摘要
Energy transitionEnergy transitions is a current and important issue. Energy is a basic input required for the production of goods and services and for sustaining daily life. Although the use of renewable energy sourcesRenewable energy sources has increased in recent years, fossil fuelsFossil fuels continue to be used in energy production. Fossil resources are limited in quantity, nonrenewable, and environmentally damaging. Production systemsProduction systems based on fossil resources are not sustainable. Therefore, reducing the use of fossil resources and accelerating the transition to renewable resources are necessary. Both developed and developing countriesDeveloping countries should properly manage the energy transitionEnergy transitions process and should expand the use of renewable resources. To correctly manage this process, countries must be well aware of the advantages of energy transitionEnergy transitions. They should also be able to anticipate the difficulties they may encounter during the energy transitionEnergy transitions process and produce solutions to overcome such difficulties. Renewable energy sourcesRenewable energy sources have several advantages, such as improving environmental qualityEnvironmental quality, ensuring energy securityEnergy security, reducing external dependency on energy, creating energy supply stability, and facilitating the achievement of sustainable development goalsSustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, renewable energy investmentsRenewable energy investments also have difficulties, such as high initial costsHigh initial costs, the need for knowledge and experience, and the need for high technology. This study aims to provide information about the concept of energy transitionEnergy transitions, explain the opportunities that energy transitionEnergy transitions offers, and address the challenges that countries may face during energy transitionEnergy transitions.
