On 24 February 2022, Russia started invading Ukraine in what was supposed to be a short “special military intervention” and was condemned by a large majority of States across the world. In a changing media environment when public attention needed to be aroused and informed about the basic factors of the war so that the war effort and the financial obligations it entailed would be supported, whether on the Ukrainian or the Russian side, how did news media (re)present the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine? This book addresses this question through the analysis of European online news media.
