Given the availability of modern digital technologies and new technology-driven consulting approaches, the management of consulting firms should critically review their service portfolio and assess where the traditional, costly consulting model is required and where it is not. While consultancies are thriving to support their clients’ business in an agile and value-adding way, digital platforms and surrounding ecosystems could be used as a core approach to allow for large-scale virtualization in the consulting domain, leading to unprecedented reach and scaling. In this chapter, seven platform-based consulting business models are suggested and described. While the simpler ones are actually in existence today, the more complex models are not implemented yet and may change the industry within the next 5 to 10 years radically.
