Concluding Observations
摘要
These concluding observations attempt to draw together what we can know about the relationship between Stein’s and Husserl’s phenomenological positions in and around the time of Ideas II’s redaction by Stein. They read Stein’s On the Problem of Empathy as testifying to the presuppositions with which she started her work on Ideas II, and her Contributions to the Philosophical Foundation of Psychology and the Humanities as stating her critique of what she took Husserl’s position to be in the work she put together for him. It is argued that On the Problem of Empathy provides the rationale for the structure of the 1952 edition of Ideas II and that Contributions explains the reasons behind that structure in the form of a critique of the result.
