In this paper, we investigate the impedance spectra of PiN diodes used in reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). RISs are an emerging technology which is attracting widespread attention due to their dynamic and intelligent manipulation ability of electromagnetic (EM) waves. The functionality of RISs is dynamically controlled using semiconductor components. Here, we perform numerical analyses of the impedance of PiN diodes using Sentaurus TCAD. An automated in-house procedure is invoked to extract equivalent circuits suited to describe the dynamic behavior of the PiN diodes, and easy-to-implement in EM simulation software for improved RIS modeling.

摘要
