We discuss the limitations of the medicalMedical model when considering the connections between symptomsSymptoms, what may be influencing them and how inviting family members to consultationsConsultation or asking about their ideas can help us, as professionals, and our patients think about the possible impact of contextual factors on the problem presented. We use clinical examples to illustrate the application of these ideas, which have proved to be a valuable framework for navigating the complexities of modern primary carePrimary care and fostering meaningful connections between clinicians, patients, and families.
