We apply educational data science to investigate how educational futures are discussed on X. First, we introduce the concept of educational futures and emphasize their non-predictive nature. We then locate two distinct themes in academic discussion of educational futures: having “no future”, which is described as a matter of collective feelings, and the uneven distribution of future-making. Next, we apply natural language processing and social network analyses to these two themes in the field. Our preliminary results indicate users’ curiosity about the future and the influence of key users and communities in the discourse.

摘要

We apply educational data science to investigate how educational futures are discussed on X. First, we introduce the concept of educational futures and emphasize their non-predictive nature. We then locate two distinct themes in academic discussion of educational futures: having “no future”, which is described as a matter of collective feelings, and the uneven distribution of future-making. Next, we apply natural language processing and social network analyses to these two themes in the field. Our preliminary results indicate users’ curiosity about the future and the influence of key users and communities in the discourse.
