Empowering Information Literacy Through Learning Nuggets on Toolification of Scientific Workflows
摘要
“Learning Nuggets” – concise, focused educational units – are integral to university library initiatives aimed at fostering information literacy. These modular resources include diverse formats such as videos, infographics, quizzes and tutorials, addressing the increasing toolification of scientific workflows and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven applications in research contexts. Designed with principles of microlearning, gamification and active learning, they accommodate varied learning preferences and support self-regulated learning. Depending on content, Learning Nuggets can stand alone or be integrated within longer learning paths. This study employs a single case study approach to examine the implementation of Learning Nuggets at a Technical University’s library, leveraging educational-design research and principles of learning experience design. Findings offer strategies for effective resource allocation, enhancing user engagement and iterative content refinement, ensuring Learning Nuggets remain accessible and impactful. Thus, they enable libraries to play a central role in equipping students and researchers to navigate an increasingly digital academic environment.
