Farm2Forecast: Leveraging Smart Contracts and Predictive Analytics in Blockchain-Based Agricultural Transactions
摘要
The growing uncertainty of farm markets and the opacity of food supply chains are major hurdles for farmers, especially in the developing world. This study proposes Farm2Forecast, a blockchain-based predictive system that helps farmers, mainly rice farmers, to decide when and where to sell their produce to maximize profit. The system uses machine learning algorithms to predict future crop prices using past and regional data, and Ethereum smart contracts are used for secure execution and storage of transactions. A decentralized ledger is used to provide transparency, accountability, and tamper-proof storage of all the trading transactions. Farmers can login through a simple portal to view price predictions, get timely notifications regarding future price spikes, and check transaction histories. The system also enables spatiotemporal monitoring of price fluctuations among various regions, offering useful insights to facilitate more informed decision-making in agricultural trade. This hybrid model of integrating AI-based price prediction with blockchain technology is destined to empower farmers, mitigate exploitation in the supply chain, and establish a trust-based digital platform for agri-commerce.
