The current chapter examines how a variety of masks in popular Japanese and Korean films and TV dramas are displayed and tied to different functions and meanings. Attention is particularly paid to the popular K-drama Squid Game. The findings indicate that both mythological and symbolic meanings coexist with socioeconomic and social hierarchies in some East Asian content.
