Revisiting Leadership Models: The Role of Wisdom and Context in Transformational Leadership
摘要
This chapter explores why recognizing wise leaders is a complex and nuanced challenge. Drawing on the leadership and wisdom literatures, the chapter highlights the variability in how wisdom is defined and expressed, proposing that wise leadership manifests through different styles. The Tripartite Model of Wise Management and recent typologies of wise leadership styles (transformational, task-oriented, and relationship-oriented) are introduced to illustrate how wise behavior is shaped by intrapersonal attributes, interpersonal dynamics, and contextual demands. The chapter argues that wisdom is not a fixed trait but rather an adaptive capacity that can be developed through structured education and reflective practice. It concludes that cultivating transformational wisdom—integrating wise motivation, strategic skill, and contextual sensitivity—is essential for effective and responsible leadership in today’s complex organizational environments.
