Current Status, Challenges and Opportunities for Transport Electrification Deployment in Mexico
摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive assessment of the current status, challenges, and opportunities for transport electrification in Mexico. It presents an analysis of the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, energy sources, and regulatory landscape, with a focus on the technical, economic, and institutional barriers limiting large-scale EV deployment. The study identifies critical gaps in charging coverage, interoperability, and renewable energy integration, highlighting the need for grid upgrades, storage solutions, and decentralized energy strategies. Additionally, the chapter reviews vehicle market trends and the legislative framework governing the utilization of clean energy. The findings offer essential insights to guide policymakers, utilities, and stakeholders in developing effective strategies to accelerate Mexico’s transition toward sustainable, low-emission mobility.
