Prevalences of Experienced Discrimination and Harassment in the Finnish Roma Adult Population in Finland, and the Associations with Health and Well-Being Factors
摘要
This chapter investigates the prevalence of experienced discrimination and harassment among Finnish Roma adults and explores associations with various health and well-being indicators. Experiences of discrimination were associated with, for example, distrust in public institutions, dissatisfaction with housing opportunities, and feelings of unsafety. The data was collected in 2017–2018 and had a total number of respondents of 365. The findings indicate persistent structural racism in Finnish society and the need for stronger anti-discrimination measures. We recommend intersectional, participatory approaches to research, service development, and policymaking, along with targeted training for welfare professionals. An updated health and well-being survey in Finland is also needed.
