In this chapter, a core process of software project management is described: quality assurance. The first section covers quality assurance as a cross-cutting task for all major stakeholders, the second section details the quality assurance plan as a central document, the third and fourth section addresses quality assurance for processes and for products. The fifth section outlines management of identified defects and dealing with deviations, the sixt section summarizes the division of responsibility and labor between project management and quality management roles in an organization.
