Tomato production plays an important role in the agroindustry business in Portugal and particularly at Ribatejo region. Adopting Business Intelligence (BI) tools can bring significant advantages, enhancing efficiency, decision-making, and sustainability. Deploying a solution between contracting a commercially available BI solution and designing and developing a personalized open-source BI solution is an important decision. In this research a process in developing a personalized open-source BI solution for tomato production industry is proposed and a comparison is made between adopting a commercial general and open-source BI tool.
