Life-Based Learning Projects: Strategy for School–Community Engagement
摘要
Life-Based Learning (LBL) provides a robust framework for integrating real-life experiences into educational processes, particularly through school-community engagement. This chapter examines the strategies and benefits of implementing LBL projects that connect students with their communities, fostering active and experiential learning. It highlights the essential role of community involvement in creating relevant, hands-on educational experiences that enhance students’ problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills. By involving local businesses, organisations, and other community members, schools can offer students real-world challenges that deepen their learning and foster a sense of social responsibility. The chapter also highlights the importance of school leadership in driving these initiatives, emphasising the need for principals to foster strong community relationships and create a supportive environment for life-based learning projects. Through case studies, the chapter illustrates how these projects can improve students’ academic outcomes, social skills, and personal development, while also benefiting the broader community. It concludes by advocating for a collaborative approach to education, where the efforts of schools, families, and communities converge to support students’ growth and prepare them for future success in an interconnected world. This approach not only enhances educational relevance but also fosters a sense of civic responsibility and community engagement.
