Introduction
摘要
The introduction sets the scene regarding the situation in the UK for children on the edge of school and family life. It notes a lack of resourcing and suitable provision, particularly for those with complex high needs. The book’s relational and therapeutic approach is introduced, as well as a focus throughout on support for staff and carers. The origins of the approach outlined lie in the work of the Mulberry Bush, introduced as a long-standing residential care home, specialist school and workforce training organisation. The introduction explains that the book is not a practice manual with easy answers. It aims to discuss a range of real-world practice dilemmas, and the state of mind and support needed to ‘hold’ their messiness. A summary of each chapter is provided.
