Evolution of Mobility Attitudes Over the Years: The Role of Socio-Economic and Infrastructural Factors at the Multicampus of University of Bologna
摘要
In recent years, mobility attitudes and choices have changed due to the effect of different variables, precluding a paradigm variation. From 2022 to 2024, global dynamics impacted the quality of life and attitudes towards transport choices. These variables may affect internal and personal attitudes that are stressed by external factors such as: COVID19 pandemic, Ukrainian-Russian conflicts, economic crisis and inflation, increase in property values and related housing problems. The transport sector provides an interesting overview of the relationship between these global factors and local changes in behaviour and attitudes. The case study is based on the University of Bologna, a huge university with more than 80000 students and about 6000 staff, both academic and administrative, whose home-work commuting impacts over a large regional territory. Furthermore, in recent years, the city of Bologna has been reorganised in terms of infrastructure and services in order to meet new mobility needs and the necessity for more sustainable transport systems. Not only the socio-economic variables have evolved over the years, the city has also developed new infrastructures such as cycle paths and implemented innovative mobility strategies, including the introduction of the 30 km/h speed limit within the urban area. The annual mobility survey has provided a series of historical data on which the research has focused and developed statistical analyses, both studying descriptive statistics and performing Bayesian regression. The analysis correlates the modal shift in urban mobility of the university community, in particular the habitual car use, with external socio-economic, energy-related and psychological factors.
