Beyond the Clinic: Activism, Policy, and Decolonisation
摘要
This chapter moves beyond the clinical setting to examine the intersections of activism, policy, and decolonisation in addressing South Asian shame. It explores decolonising education, psychological theory and research methods, situating shame within broader social, cultural, and historical structures. The chapter explores shame resilience theory, linking individual healing with collective, decolonial resistance, and affect theory, framing shame as a circulating social force. It further engages with liberation psychology, highlighting pathways from internalised wounds to structural and systemic healing, and discusses structural and policy-level advocacy as essential tools for social transformation. The chapter emphasises the integration of clinical, cultural, and socio-political approaches for sustained change in South Asian contexts.
