This chapter discusses the critical areas about governance, including governance structures, roles and responsibilities, and ethical and legal considerations. Governance can be provided by a variety of groups—simultaneously or independently. For example, most hospitals will have a Board of Directors that provides governance. Human resource departments provide governance over employees. At a more local level, there is a group that provides governance over infrastructure, technology, and data. This chapter will discuss broad governance concepts, and then discuss more targeted health informatics governance focusing primarily on local level governance as that is the level of function of the health informaticist.

摘要

This chapter discusses the critical areas about governance, including governance structures, roles and responsibilities, and ethical and legal considerations. Governance can be provided by a variety of groups—simultaneously or independently. For example, most hospitals will have a Board of Directors that provides governance. Human resource departments provide governance over employees. At a more local level, there is a group that provides governance over infrastructure, technology, and data. This chapter will discuss broad governance concepts, and then discuss more targeted health informatics governance focusing primarily on local level governance as that is the level of function of the health informaticist.
