Asian-Oceanian Society of Neuroradiology and Head & Neck Radiology: The Early Years
摘要
Founded in 1994, the Asian and Oceanian Society of Neuroradiology and Head & Neck Radiology (AOSNHNR) is a federation of Neuroradiological Societies in the countries and regions of Asia and Oceania. Our members, comprising diagnostic and interventional neuroradiologists, and head and neck radiologists, represent a vast geographical expanse. We describe the development of the Society from the first scientific meeting of the society held in Kumamoto, Japan in 1994, to the present day. The congresses, currently designated as the Asian & Oceanian Congress of Neuroradiology (AOCNR) are held every 2–3 years in different member countries and showcase educational activities, social networking and research into our unique and diverse population genetics and disease patterns. Future challenges include the rapid advances in neuroimaging technologies, increased workload and manpower shortages, demographics of ageing societies, wide variation in healthcare systems, and membership engagement; these can be overcome by exchange of ideas and working together with other international Societies.
