Neuroradiology in Türkiye
摘要
Neuroradiology in Türkiye is considered to have begun in 1955 at Istanbul University’s Capa Medical School, where neurosurgeons pioneered vascular neuroradiology. As modern neuroradiology started to develop in the late 1960s, an increasing number of professionals from various institutions sought neuroradiology training abroad. Upon their return, contemporary diagnostic and interventional procedures were introduced. By 1990, as global advancements in neuroradiology and radiology accelerated, Türkiye took proactive steps to adopt these innovations in both diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. Advanced interventional techniques were seamlessly integrated into routine practice and research, fostering international collaborations. In 1991, the Turkish Society of Neuroradiology (TSNR) was founded in Istanbul with the goal of uniting professionals dedicated to advancing the field. TSNR became a member of several international societies, with its members actively participating in various roles. Numerous congresses and courses were organized in Türkiye, solidifying its presence in the international neuroradiology community. Particularly, Turkish interventional neuroradiologists have emerged as leaders in the field, their courses and meetings are being held annually across different continents, becoming key global events in neuroradiology.
