The SILAN society (Sociedad Ibero Latino Americana de Neurorradiología) is the premier neuroradiology educational society for both diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. Since its inception in 1988, the SILAN Society helped the establishment of national neuroradiology societies in member countries, annual scientific meetings in different countries each year, and sponsored educational rotations and neuroradiology training programs for graduates from Latin American radiology, neurosurgery, and neurology programs. Over 250 trainees from 24 countries have benefited from the SILAN scholarship programs, with a direct total investment by the SILAN Society of approximately 1.2 million US dollars over the span of 28 years.
