History of Italian Neuroradiology, 1990–2023
摘要
Based on the vision and commitment of strong professional personalities, and well-equipped departments in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, in the 33 years to follow (1990–2023), Italian neuroradiology has witnessed a significant growth. The number of members of AINR (Associazione Italiana di Neuroradiologia Diagnostica e terapeutica) has grown from less than 200 to 722, of whom 290 are females and 422 males. The majority of society members are also members of the Italian Radiological Society (SIRM) and the European Society of Neuroradiology. Andrea Rossi is at present the President of the ESNR and Luigi Manfré is the Secretary General. Neuroradiology hospital departments are now 97 compared with 54 in 1991. AINR organizes national Congresses of Neuroradiology, diagnostic and interventional, pediatric neuroradiology, and functional neuroradiology. University chairs and academic positions are now 54 compared with 15 in 1990. Teaching of neuroradiology is part of the University programs of Medical schools and specialty courses in radiology, neurology, and neurosurgery. Specific master’s in neuroradiology are organized every year by AINR. A well-defined and structured university specialty course is, however, still missing and remains one of the objectives to be reached in the future.
