A Survey on the Integration of AI in UAVs and Satellites for Sustainable Development in Africa
摘要
This paper surveys the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in increasing unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and satellite technologies in Africa. This highlights the emerging role of AI in addressing socio-economic and environmental challenges by reducing the infrastructure gaps, management of climate risks and improving resource regime. Although AI integration is moving globally, its application in African UAVs and satellite systems is still in an initial stage. The study reviews literature, case studies, and emerging applications to portray the impact of AI in domains such as agriculture, disaster response, earth observation and connectivity. AI-competent UAVs are facilitating localized solutions including crop monitoring, wildlife tracking and healthcare delivery, AI-enhanced satellites contribute to real-time climate modeling, urban planning and national security efforts. Despite these promising developments, important challenges remain, such as regulatory ambiguity, limited technical ability and data regime issues. The paper calls AI framework, cross-sector cooperation and policy innovation to align technological progress with the development preferences of Africa. It provides strategic insight to researchers, policy makers and business leaders who are interested in using AI-based UAVs and satellite technologies for inclusive and sustainable development.
