The Movements for Human Rights and Democracy
摘要
Human rights movements in the region have employed several strategies and techniques to address human rights concerns. This involves legal advocacy, outreach efforts, collaboration with international organizations, and involvement in government institutions. As human rights concerns exist in North Africa, these organizations struggle for a more equitable and just society. An in-depth understanding of their impact is required to assess the existing human rights issues and identify potential areas for improvement. The political turmoil that has swept over the Maghreb over the last thirteen years has created new opportunities and problems in several states. Their political and social spaces have become increasingly contested, mainly in Morocco and Algeria, which did not know a regime change. In particular, the demands of human rights, ethnic and religious minorities for recognition, the concurrent promotion of political pluralism and democratization, the demands for women’s rights, and the variety of challenges these pose to the political and social order, are now prominent features of the region’s political discourse.
