Exploring Knowledge Sharing and Workplace Innovation in Workplace Safety—The Case of a Swedish Sawmill Company
摘要
Knowledge sharing and workplace innovation enable each other to promote workplace safety by leveraging the potential of employee creativity and problem-solving. Through exploring the case of a Swedish sawmill company, key knowledge sharing and workplace innovation processes and practices such as learning and engagement, collaboration, creativity and continuous improvement are identified. These influence workplace safety aspects, for example tacit safety knowledge, accident prevention and safety behavior, awareness and performance. Individual knowledge sharing, workplace innovation and workplace safety practices and processes depend on organizational support and structural innovation. Similarly, psychosocial conditions enable workplace innovation and knowledge sharing by providing safe spaces for open, inclusive and trust-based exchange. As major theoretical and practical contribution, this study provides a clear integration of knowledge sharing, workplace innovation and workplace safety in an integrative framework as practical and theoretical basis for the work of researchers and practitioners.
