In the digital age, social media has transformed how individuals construct and present their identities, especially for higher education students, where the platforms offer them opportunities to express their vision and opinions and share their content on both personal and professional levels. This study analyzes how students construct and manage their digital identities on different social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. It highlights the strategies they adopt to control their online reputation and the implications of these practices on the development of their professional careers. This research adopts a mixed-methods approach, including a survey conducted among 45 students from the Department of Journalism and Digital Media to examine how they approach the complexities of online sociability and visibility. The results indicate that students are highly aware of the role of digital media in shaping their professional identities where some of them adopt strategies such as content curation, separation of personal and professional platforms and active management of their online presence to ensure a positive digital image and have a good and prominent reputation. In this context, the study emphasizes the importance of providing media education training to students in order to teach them to manage their digital identity, which has become crucial for the construction of their online profiles, particularly in the fields of journalism and digital media.
